Manning agency of Gulf Livestock 1 pleads for help

Korpil Shipmanagement and Manning Corp, the manning agency of the officers and crew of the Gulf Livestock, 1 has asked the government to appeal to Chinese and South Korean governments to help in the search and rescue (SAR) operations of the ill-fated livestock carrier.

In an interview this morning with GMA News, Elias delos Reyes, president of Korpil Shipmamagement, said the agency had written to President Duterte through Senator Bong Go to express his appeal

“Parang weird ang hinihiling namin, pero ginagawan natin ng paraan kahit nakakahiya ang hinhiling namin. Baka lang naman makatulong baka lang naman,” pleaded De los Reyes.    

He added that the agency also “wrote to DFA Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. na kung maaari  i-request ang Chinese and Korean governments to help in the search and rescue.“

“Ang pinangyarihan kasi ng insidente ay international waters na malapit sa Japan pero wala sa teritoryo ng Japan,” explained De los Reyes, who remains hopeful that more survivors can be found said.

“Sabi kasi ng AB Rosales niraradyuhan sila ng kapitan na sila nalamang ang hinihintay sa bridge.  Ibig sabihin marami na silang (nakaipon).  Iyon ang disikarte ng kapitan.”

AB Rosales was the second rescued crewmember of the livestock carrier.

As of today, SAR operations have been suspended due to bad weather, but De los Reyes said that the Filipino Labor Attaché in Osaka, Japan assured him that Japan Coast Guard would resume operation as soon as the weather improves.
